Gabriela S. López leads the Education Measurement portfolio work at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI). In this role, Gabriela partners with grantees in the development of practical and meaningful measures and assessments that positively support youth. Prior to joining the Education team at CZI, Gabriela served as Director of Early Childhood Program Quality Assessment and Equity Implementation in the Center for Child and Family Studies at WestEd. Over her 28 year career, Gabriela has led diverse teams in the delivery of high quality services for children, families, and educators. She has developed and led respectful and meaningful program quality assessment systems, leads a national Funder’s Collaborative for Innovative Measurement, and is a member of the executive leadership team for Grantmakers for Thriving Youth.
Gabriela is committed to the development of measures and practices that are asset-based and represent the values, hopes, and dreams communities hold for themselves. She is a servant leader and walks on this earth in love and purpose toward the mission of changing systems that oppress and hurt children and families.
Her restorative activities are spending time with loved ones, including Lola, her senior Boston Terrier, gardening, and traveling to beautiful places.
